Description

Thunguri Factory was established in 1967 and is a part of the renowned Rumukia FCS; a Farmers’ Cooperative Society is a community of smallholder farmers who pool their harvests for processing.

Thunguri processes coffee cherries from over 700 farmers, most of whom cultivate around 250 coffee trees on half-acre plots.

The coffee cherries undergo anaerobic fermentation - an oxygen-deprivation technique - in airtight “sleeping bags” for 72 hours, allowing them to develop concentrated sweetness and layered fruit characteristics.

The result is a vibrant, memorable cup with notes of watermelon, cranberry and winey depth, lifted by a gentle cinnamon finish.

Brew Method

Both espresso-based drinks and filter and manual brews.

Tasting Notes

watermelon, cranberry & winey with a syrupy mouthfeel
